Enhanced Health Services provides services to both
consumers with developmental disabilities and those
individuals with serious mental illness. Enhanced
Health Services staff provide the following services: Applied Behavioral Service, Psychological Testing,
Physical Therapy Services, Occupational Therapy
Services, Speech Therapy Services, Nursing Services,
Nutritional Services, Psychiatric Evaluation and
Services, Crisis Intervention and Nursing Medication
Education and Review.
Applied Behavioral Service
includes consultation, individual and group therapy
services provided by a bachelor’s level behavioral
specialist or limited or fully licensed psychologist for
the purpose of reducing maladaptive behaviors to enable
the consumer to function more appropriately in
interpersonal relationships; including writing
goals/objectives (treatment strategies) and data
collection methodologies for implementation by
paraprofessional staff and/or caregivers. This service
includes the periodic review of the implementation of
goals/objectives in the consumer’s home and/or day
program (professional treatment monitoring).
Psychological Testing is
rendered by a full- or limited-license psychologist,
including standardized projective tests, IQ tests,
pre-testing interview, and interpretation of test
results, and includes testing completed for probate court
procedures such as guardianship.
Physical Therapy Services
provide assessments of physical therapy needs performed
by a registered physical therapist, including
professional recommendations for intervention and
related equipment needs. Assessment methods may include
tests and measurements, interpretation of test results
and diagnostic impressions. This service is based
upon direct observation of the consumer, documentation
review and interview of implementing staff/caregivers as
appropriate. Services provided must be beyond the scope
of the qualified health plan. Wheelchair assessments
and fittings are also performed by the Physical
Therapist.
Occupational Therapy Services
provide assessment of occupational therapy needs performed by a Registered Occupational Therapist,
including professional recommendations for intervention
and adaptive equipment needs. Assessment methods may
include tests and measurements, interpretation of test
results and diagnostic impressions. This service is
based upon direct observation of the consumer, documentation
review and interview of implementing staff/caregivers as
appropriate. Services provided must be beyond the scope
of the qualified health plan. The Occupational
Therapists also work closely with the Psychologist in
behavior reduction through sensory desensitization
interventions.
Speech Therapy Services, such
as assessment of speech and language needs, are
performed by a certified speech and language
pathologist, including professional recommendations for
intervention, including adaptive equipment needs. Assessment methods may include tests and measurements,
interpretation of test results and diagnostic
impressions. This service is based upon direct
observation of consumer, documentation review and
interview of implementing staff/caregivers as
appropriate. Services provided must be beyond the scope
of the qualified health plan
Nursing Services and
assessments are performed by a registered nurse for the
purpose of identifying a consumer’s need for nursing or
health-related services, including professional
recommendations for treatment. Nursing service is
based upon direct observation of consumer, documentation
review and interview of implementing staff/caregivers as
appropriate. Services provided must be beyond the scope
of the qualified health plan
Nutritional Services
assessments are performed by a registered dietician for
the purpose of assessing the consumer’s past and present
nutritional status, nutritional problems and effects of
medications on nutritional status, including a
recommended course of treatment. Nutritional service
is also based upon direct observation of consumer,
documentation review and interview of implementing
staff/caregivers as appropriate. Services must be beyond
the scope of the qualified health plan.
Psychiatric Evaluation and
Services provide comprehensive face-to-face
psychiatric evaluation (inpatient or outpatient) to
assess clinical status, including presenting problem,
history, strengths/weaknesses, mental status, summary of
findings, bio-psychosocial formulation and diagnostic
statement, an estimate of risk factors, initial
treatment recommendations, estimated length of stay and
criteria for discharge.
Nursing Medication Education and
Review is usually done in conjunction with a
physician visit. A registered nurse evaluates and
monitors psychotropic medications, their primary
therapeutic and potential side effects, and the need for
continuation or change in the medication regimen for
purposes of encouraging resolution or prevention of
targeted symptoms.
