Nearly half of American adults have high blood pressure under the updated blood pressure guidelines. But high blood pressure often doesn’t have outward symptoms until comorbidities (like type 2 diabetes or heart disease) have developed, which is why it is so important to check your blood pressure regularly and take steps to control your numbers.

In order to raise awareness about the importance of controlling high blood pressure, the American Heart Association® has a goal for 3 million people worldwide get their blood pressure checked during the month of May. May is High Blood Pressure Education Month, and the American Heart Association® is using #CheckIt to encourage people around the globe to check their blood pressure.
