SCCMHA OFFERS ASIST TRAINING TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND AGENCIES
SCCMHA hosted the LivingWorks ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) with members of our Saginaw County community on May 12-13.
The training, held at SCCMHA’s A&W location, provided training to attendees on how to help someone going through a mental health crisis who is experiencing thoughts of suicide.
This two-day, all day training session taught those who participated how to help develop a safety plan to keep someone safe-for-now and locate any further help, understand how to have conversations about suicide, and build confidence in providing suicide first aid.
Agencies represented included individuals from:
- Saginaw County Treatment Court Staff
- Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office
- 70th District Court
- Great Lakes Bay Health Centers
- Underground Railroad
SCCMHA will be offering another ASIST session on Wednesday and Thursday, July 8-9.
The training is offered free to those who live or work in Saginaw County. Cost is $50 for those outside Saginaw County.
