SCCMHA MHFA Meet the Instructor

Matt Nagy - Matt has twenty-four years full-time experience in the Human Services field.  He is a graduate of University of Phoenix has a Bachelor of Science in Human Services Management, as well as an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice.  Matt has ten years of experience working directly with adjudicated youth.  He has worked for SCCMHA as a Support Coordinator, Community Liaison and as a Trainer.  Current Certifications include American Heart Association BLS/Heartsaver First Aid/CPR Instructor; and Crisis Prevention Institute Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Instructor.  Matt has been an instructor for Youth Mental Health First Aid for 7 years and has recently become dual certified to teach both Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid training. 

 

 

 

 

 

Valerie Toney - Valerie is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.  Valerie worked for ten years as a Support Coordinator for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities prior to her current position as Trainer.  Valerie also worked as a Recipient Rights Officer and as a School-to-Work Transition Specialist through SVRC and in partnership with Saginaw ISD prior to coming to Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority in 2006 as a Trainer, Crisis Intervention, and Mobile Response Support Services staff.  Valerie is a Certified BLS Instructor through The American Heart Association.  She received her dual instructor certification in both Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid in 2020.
