SCCMHA Board Member receives 2026 Heart of the City Award
We'd like to offer our sincere congratulations to SCCMHA Board Member and Saginaw County Commissioner Lisa Coney for being named the 2026 recipient of the Heart of the City Award!
Lisa, who joined the SCCMHA Board in 2022, is a long-time resident of Saginaw, working as a social worker with the Saginaw Public School District for over 20 years, and now serving as a Mental Health Practitioner for the Saginaw Intermediate School District.
She is very grateful to receive this award, calling it a blessing to have been recognized for the service she has provided throughout her life.
“It is both humbling and deeply meaningful,” Lisa said. “To be recognized in this way affirms the calling I believe God has placed on my life: to move people from potential to purpose. It is a blessing to know that the work I have done is making an impact, and it encourages me to continue serving with faith and intention.”
The Heart of the City Award is given out by The Michigan Banner in recognition of individuals who demonstrate exemplary service and commitment in the Great Lakes Bay Community.
Lisa truly has shown that in her time on the County Commission, as a member of our Board of Directors and a leader in Saginaw County.
In addition, Lisa also serves as the president of the Saginaw County Housing Board, a member of the Saginaw County Prevention Council, the Victorious Community Development Board, and is a life member of Alpha Kappa Sorority, League of Women Voters and the NAACP.
